Fascia & Trim Repair

Fix the rot before it gets any worse. Whether squirrels chewed through the boards or weather rotted the wood, damaged trim lets water and animals into your home, and paint can't hide it for long.

MTL Construction Services cuts out the damage, replaces it with new trim, and finishes it so it matches the rest of the house. Your home gets more durable, and it looks really great again.

Two ways trim gets damaged

Critter damage

Squirrels and other animals chew into fascia and trim boards, often at the corners where roof edges meet. Once there's a hole, they can get into the attic, and water follows them in.

Weather rot

When paint fails, rain soaks into the bare wood. The board stays wet, rots from the inside, and the damage spreads along the board long before it's obvious from the ground.

How MTL repairs fascia and trim

  1. Your MTL Project Manager finds every damaged section and shows you photos.
  2. MTL cuts out the damaged wood back to solid material.
  3. New trim goes in, fitted to match the shape of the original.
  4. The new trim is sealed and painted to match the house.

Metal drip edge: what keeps trim from rotting

Building code requires metal drip edge flashing along the edges of a shingle roof whenever the roof is replaced. Drip edge is a strip of metal that sends water off the roof and away from the fascia and trim, so the wood stays dry. It also stops wind from blowing rain under the shingles along the sloped side edges of the roof, called the rakes.

Fix the trim during your roof replacement

The best time to repair rotten fascia and trim is while the roof is being replaced. Once the new drip edge and shingles are installed over it, getting to that wood is harder and more expensive. Your MTL Project Manager checks the trim during the roof inspection, so it's part of the plan from the start.

A new roof can make old trim look older

MTL hears this often: a week after a new roof goes on, the homeowner calls to say how amazing it looks, and that now the trim and paint look even older next to it. Planning trim repair and paint along with your roof means the whole house looks finished when the crew leaves.
